About
Crisp & Tart is a cottage industry. I mix my own water-based dyes, then screen print, paint and process kitchen items in small batches in my home studio. I can be found in there most evenings.
I hand craft all of my designs, which means that each towel is an individual work. There's always something about it that makes it unique--a blend of colors or a swish of the paintbrush. I use silkscreen for the black outlines, but I prefer the results of hand painting. I like to keep things simple.
New this year is that I've finally located a source for 100% organic fair-trade cotton!
All the towels are 100% cotton and have been washed and dried so they are ready for use in your home.
“Have nothing in your house which you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.” William Morris
I have been a quilter and fabric artist for 20 years. I've been in love with fabric since birth, due to my mother’s obsession with anything cotton. One of my earliest memories is of sitting under the ironing board while my mom worked on handkerchiefs, button-down shirts, and sheets (even the sheets!). Following the wise words by William Morris to, “Have nothing in your house which you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful,” I strive to create products that are functional yet make you smile.
