Twined Cotton Rag Rug
This is a rag rug that I created by upcycling old or terribly miss-printed dish towels by over-dying then weaving them.
As you can imagine, I print some towels that no one could love. Sometimes the fabric has a hole in it. Sometimes the dye spilled and it just doesn't bring anyone joy. And (even better) some of my farmers market customers stop by with worn out dish towels that I can take home with me. I immerse them in dye, then tear them into 2 inch strips. When I have down time, I weave a few rows. Eventually, I have a finished rug.
They are thick and wonderfully soft underfoot. Either side can be face up on the floor. I have washed mine in the front load washer, but be aware that it took days to fully dry. It's a very thick rug.
This rug measures 38 inches by 27.5 inches.
The colors are red, gold, yellow, white, light and medium blue. There are a couple of shots of pink in there too.
